The prevention and control of infections in health services is an integral part of quality and safety improvement, and clinical risk management.
Isolation practices, including the use of personal protective equipment and limitation of visitors, are ways to reduce that risk for patients, family members, and healthcare workers. Personal protective equipment can include masks, gloves & gowns.
We ask that EVERYONE utilise the antiseptic hand rub provided when entering and exiting the unit and using communal areas. You will find this pink hand rub throughout the unit and in your child’s room.
- Family and visitors are asked not to visit if they are sick or have recently been sick. This helps prevent the spread of infection to patients, families and healthcare workers.
- Fresh flowers are not permitted in PICU as they can trigger an allergic reaction in some patients.
