Registrar & Resident
A paediatric registrar and resident are qualified doctors who are completing further training. The registrar and resident will see your child most often and will complete physical assessments, order medications and tests for your child. There will always be a registrar in the unit at all times who will work under the guidance of the consultant. The PICU doctors will be identifiable by green badges.
Consultant
A paediatric intensive care consultant is a highly trained and specialised doctor who will manage your child’s medical care and is responsible for all treatments and investigations.
Treating Team
An assigned paediatric team that collaborates with PICU staff will also review your child regularly. The assigned team will consist of a consultant, fellow, registrar and resident. Once your child is better, they will be transferred from PICU to the ward where the assigned team will take over your child’s care. The treating team doctors will be wearing white badges.
