Physiotherapy Staff

A Physiotherapist or physio for short is a member of the allied health team who specialises in optimising and progressing a child’s respiratory, neurological and mobility recovery. The physio department cares for patients 7 days a week.

What does a physiotherapist do

  • Chest physio to help keep the lungs clear of mucous and well inflated
  • Assistance in weaning off breathing support
  • Early movement after surgery
  • Early rehabilitation after surgery or injury to the brain
  • Prevent de-conditioning from prolonged hospital admissions
  • Management of increased tone
  • Help with transfers, positioning and seating
  • Equipment to assist with mobility
  • Developmental support and programs for young patients
